Very violent group ravages Zeeland coast: two men with fractures in the face in hospital
Two men from Breda were so badly mistreated this morning at a campsite in Zeeland that they ended up in hospital with multiple broken bones. The police suspect that a very violent group is traveling through Zeeland and committed several assaults last week.
In the past week, at least four serious violent incidents occurred in Zeeland, in which victims always seemed to be attacked out of nowhere. The assaults took place in Burgh-Haamstede, Renesse and Scharendijke.
The police and the judiciary suspect that these incidents are related, because the description of the perpetrators seems to match. They do not rule out the possibility of more victims who have not yet come forward.
Severely mistreated out of nowhere
The most serious incident, as the police describe it, happened last night. At around 00.45 hours, two 21-year-old men from Breda were beaten up at a campsite in Burgh-Haamstede.
The victims were taken to hospital by ambulance. They suffered multiple fractures to their faces.
It seems that the perpetrators struck for no reason at all. “Whether nothing actually preceded it is part of the investigation,” said a police spokesperson for Zeeland-West Brabant.
The first incident happened last Saturday near a beach pavilion De Wijde Blik near Scharendijke. A 19-year-old young man from that place was beaten out of nowhere. On August 4, it was hit twice. A also 19-year-old young man from Renesse was kicked up by a group of at least six boys. The victim suffered several head injuries.
A 17-year-old boy from Ratingen, Germany, was robbed of his bicycle on Wednesday morning at the Brouwersdam in Renesse. When the German thought that the perpetrator wanted to take a knife, he ran away. The duo then took off on their bicycles. The police suspect that this duo was also involved in the other violent incidents.
The police have launched an investigation into this series of incidents and in any case have a suspicion of the identities of the suspects in the most recent incident at the campsite. The police suspect that more violent incidents have taken place in the past week, which are not yet known. The police are also looking for photos, videos or surveillance images of these incidents.
