Remark in the final Slimste Mens hits Tukkers to the chest
ENSCHEDE – Philip Freriks couldn’t help but give a small sneer to Enschede during the final of De Slimste Mens. Twitterers respond to his statement: ““Enschede, of all places”, and thank you Philip.”
In the final of the popular game program, comedian Lisa Loeb, PowNed reporter Bram Douwes and poet Joost Oomen competed against each other on Friday evening. During the all-important round, The collective memory, the participants must guess five words that belong to the displayed fragment.
Oomen may be the first to try to give as many correct answers as possible. He is presented with a fragment of Teach-In, the group that won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 with the song Ding-a-dong. However, he cannot remember where the band came from and asks Freriks for clarification. “From Enschede, of all places,” responds the presenter.
‘We love you, Enschede’
Bram Douwes immediately decides to stand up for the city of Twente. “Well, tell me! Those poor people from Enschede are probably zapping away now.” Lisa Loeb is also more positive. “We love you, Enschede,” she calls to the camera.
Maybe her words just provided that little bit of extra karma, because Loeb beats Douwes in the final and takes the win. She succeeds Rob Kemps, known from Snollebollekes, as the Smartest person. He still had some promising words for her: “Corona or not: the halls will be full soon, you will be in every newspaper, the paparazzi is in front of the door. You are offered contracts, which is not normal. Stay calm.”
