Today, Monday, the Kuwaiti judiciary ordered the imprisonment of one of the sheikhs with work and force, and fined him a fine, for his involvement in forging a university degree from Egypt.
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper “Al-Rai”, the sheikh works in the Ministry of Interior with the rank of captain, and forged a university degree from Egypt. It did not indicate the type of testimony or the name of the accused.
The criminal court ruled that he was imprisoned for 7 years with work and enforcement, in addition to refunding 157 thousand dinars and fine him double the amount, in the case attributed to him, according to the newspaper.
In July of 2019, the National Assembly passed a law criminalizing obtaining university degrees by fraud, by 49 votes to 11 against.
The law imposes penalties on those involved, up to two years in prison or fines of more than thirty thousand dollars, and this legislation came after a controversy over the spread of forged certificates in the country.
