House fire gets out of hand: one cop is knocked out and father of baby is then beaten

VideoA fire in a house yesterday afternoon in Almere turned into a fight between a police officer and the father of a baby, who had to go to hospital due to smoke development. One cop was knocked out. The police intervened hard. Images show a police officer punching the baby’s father in the stomach and kneeling.

It started yesterday afternoon in the Allendestraat in Almere with a fire in an apartment house. The smoke was so intense that clouds of smoke penetrated a higher house and a newborn baby got into trouble. The baby – only one week old according to the child’s grandmother – had to go to the hospital. Then the child’s father came to the burning house. He was furious and wanted to attack the instigator of the fire, the resident.

At least, that’s what the police say. According to the baby’s grandmother, her son-in-law said ‘only’: “If there is something wrong with my child, you will still notice.”

Slap in the face

A cop who wanted to calm things down, then received a full punch from the father in the face and was knocked out for a few seconds. But according to the baby’s grandmother, the father was initially “beaten up” by officers himself. “Then an officer fell and only then did my son-in-law kick him”, she tells this site. “But he was hit first himself.”

Tempers then ran so high that officers had to keep the baby’s 22-year-old father in check. Then it can be seen that one officer delivers two blows in the man’s stomach and also kneels him. Then another agent speaks to his colleague and it is done. It is not entirely clear whether the cop who delivers the blows is the same as the cop who went short.

“We are going to file a complaint with the police,” says the baby’s grandmother. Incidentally, the baby is doing well. A police spokesperson says any use of police force is being investigated. So also this incident. The officer who was knocked down is also doing reasonably well after treatment in the hospital, said a spokesman.

The baby’s 37-year-old downstairs neighbor has also been arrested. He would have started the fire. According to the grandmother of the baby, the man is not well and drugs are said to be circulating in that house.
