De Graafschap has won the period title, tension until the last minute
It cost De Graafschap a lot of effort, but the team of trainer Mike Snoei has won the third period title. Visiting SC Telstar it became 1-2 for De Superboeren due to a late goal from Jasper van Heertum. Go Ahead Eagles and SC Cambuur drew 0-0.
SC Telstar – De Graafschap 1-2
De Graafschap has – with the necessary effort – dragged the third period title out of the fire. The team of trainer Mike Snoei has been in a negative light in recent days after all the commotion surrounding the transfer of Ralf Seuntjens to NAC Breda after this season, but on Friday evening there can be some partying.
It seemed to be an easy evening for De Superboeren, when the new captain Ted van de Pavert gave his team the lead against Telstar after only ten minutes of play. He did that the necessary luck, but no one at De Graafschap could be happy with that. Just before half time, however, the away team had to deal with a blow: Cas Dijkstra brought the tension back in with the 1-1.
De Graafschap did not manage to take the lead for a long time in the second half, but just before time, Van Heertum caused great joy by working the 1-2 behind Telstar keeper Jasper Schendelaar. The period title goes to Doetinchem.
Go Ahead Eagles 0-0 SC Cambuur
Go Ahead Eagles and Cambuur both still had a chance to win the period title, but did not see that party continue due to the scoreless draw. Go Ahead’s defense was rock solid, not for the first time this season. Cambuur did become threatening a number of times, but visibly had more trouble finding opportunities than usual.
NAC Breda – Helmond Sport 3-2
In Breda, it was secretly hoped for the period title: NAC was fourth in the ‘period ranking list’ at the start of the last round of play, but had taken first place in a victory. The team of trainer Maurice Steijn won 3-2 against Helmond Sport last minute, but because De Graafschap won 1-2 when visiting Telstar, it was to no avail for NAC.
Karim Loukili took advantage of blunder in the NAC defense after six minutes of play and scored the 0-1. Shortly after the break, Lex Immers put the home team back on the same level, but six minutes later Helmond took the lead back through Arno van Keilegom. Mario Bilate made it 2-2 halfway through the second half, after which NAC went in search of victory. This came in injury time via Bilate, but it was not enough for the period title.
Roda JC – Young Ajax 2-2
For a long time, Roda JC seemed on the way to a victory against Young Ajax, but the club from Kerkrade gave it away completely in the final phase. The home team took a 2-0 lead through Erik Falkenburg and Dylan Vente, but still allowed Young Ajax to come back into the match. Neraysho Kasanwirjo (penalty kick) and Enric Llansana scored two goals in the space of two minutes: 2-2.
